|
Alan King was born in 1946 and trained at the Glasgow School of Art. He taught for 29 years in Renfrewshire and Glasgow schools and started painting seriously in 1984 and finally left teaching to paint full time in 1997.
He is a member of the Paisley Art Institute and the Glasgow Art Club and was elected PAI in 2006. He has exhibited widely in the UK and is represented by many galleries across the country.
Many of his paintings contain the theme of the figure in the red hat which has its roots in the Venetian carnivals and has become a trademark. Storytelling and a love of Italian Renaissance art are the basis for the development of his work.
